About the author

Hi, I’m Dave. As a child, one of my eyes was diagonosed with PHPV (Persistient Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous). My parents and doctors were concerned that my eye would cause me other health issues so they made the gut-wrenching decision to have my entire eye removed through a surgery called enucleation. Through the support of family, doctors, opticians, and ocularists (makers of artificial eyes), I have been able to live a fulfilling life.  Having an artificial eye has never prevented me from participating in sports, driving a car, or pursuing any of my dreams. I hope this website serves as a valuable resource for you. If you have any questions you would like answered by someone who has lived for many decades with only one working eye and one artificial eye, please post a comment on this site and I’ll do my best to get you an answer.
